At Hebburn, our central aim is to raise aspirations and embed ambition in all our young people, embodying our core values of working hard, being kind and aspiring to be the very best you can be. This is as equally as important for our learners with SEND, as it is those without. We believe that every child should be supported in being happy, healthy, and productive. At Hebburn we recognise that success for our learners can be demonstrated in many ways, and we seek to support our students in achieving their own personal successes. We aim to do this by working closely with students and parents themselves, developing tailored learning profiles to their child’s needs.
We aim to do this by:
- Early identification of students who may require additional support;
- A broad and balanced curriculum tailored to the needs of all learners, and an understanding of the aims of the curriculum;
- A focus on quality first teaching, and high-quality planning, to meet the needs of all learners including those with SEND;
- A focus on the whole child, tracking their individual progress through regular monitoring;
- Communication with parents and carers, aiming to foster a partnership of trust;
- On-going and regular training for all staff members on supporting SEND children;
- Supporting learners through close partnership with external agencies.
