TOP SCHOOL IN SOUTH TYNESIDE – For the second year running, Hebburn Comprehensive was the top-performing school in South Tyneside for pupil engagement in the National Citizen Service summer programme, following our ‘Champion School Award’ last year.

We were presented with our ‘Star School Award’ at the highly-prestigious NCS North East Awards at Beamish Museum on Thursday 6 October; in attendance were MPs, delegates from the NCS Trust, parliamentarians, influential educational stakeholders and NCS graduates from this summer’s programme.

The NCS summer programme is a government initiative for 16 and 17-year-olds, bringing together young people from different backgrounds to work on community projects and do something positive for society. The aim of the initiative is to build greater self-confidence, self-awareness and responsibility, with projects promoting personal and social development by working on and developing the essential skills of leadership, teamwork and communication, which are all key employability skills.

Congratulations and well done to all involved!
